Pittsburgh Tribune Highlights $100,000 Grant from Cities of Service to Expand City’s Impact Volunteering Program

In October, Pittsburgh Mayor Luke Ravenstahl received a $100,000 grant from the Cities of Service Impact Volunteering Fund to fund the launch of two new impact volunteering initiatives. With the support of this grant, Pittsburgh will launch “Cool Roofs,” based on the Cities of Service Blueprint of the same name, an initiative to lower building temperatures and the city’s carbon footprint. Additionally, the city will plant new community gardens to expand the availability of fresh fruits and vegetables in low-income areas where fresh produce is scarce.
