Pierre Mayor Gill Receives $25,000 Cities of Service Grant to Support Volunteer-Fueled Flood Recovery Efforts

November 12, 2012

As the City of Pierre continues its recovery from record flooding during the summer of 2011, Pierre Mayor Laurie Gill is building on the city’s successful volunteer-fueled response to the storm. With support from Cities of Service, Mayor Gill, the city’s Chief Service Officer Larry Weiss, and the local Parks Department will lead volunteers in removing and replacing over 700 dead trees and improving the drainage systems near the city’s central sports complex, a vital economic, civic, and recreational engine in the Pierre community. This impact volunteering work will be funded by a grant from the Cities of Service Impact Volunteering Fund.
