In 2012, Cities of Service engaged StoryCorps, an independent nonprofit dedicated to helping Americans preserve and share their stories, to help us capture the experiences of Cities of Service.
Below is an audio montage featuring Pittsburgh Mayor Ravenstahl, Little Rock Mayor Stodola, and the Chief Service Officers of New York City, Austin, and Baton Rouge. In June, at the National Conference on Volunteering and Service, Cities of Service hosted a workshop titled, “Impact Volunteering: How Cities Amplify Community Efforts to Achieve Greater Outcomes.” During the session, Chief Service Officers Diahann Billings-Burford, New York City, Marcia Goodwin, Orlando, and Rebecca Delphia, Pittsburgh, each detailed the value of the mayor’s office in convening coalitions to drive greater outcomes in their communities. Each city produced a video to illustrate how their mayor’s office provides value to their partners to address one priority need. Click “Read More” below to see the videos.
